A fantastic Canadian tour with a bittersweet ending . . .

Well, we’re home from our cross-Canada tour now and can reflect over the last 5 weeks.  All of the shows were really fun to play and we would like to extend a huge thanks to all the MonkeyJunkies (long-time fans and new ones too) for coming out to the shows.  We sure appreciate it!  Thanks for taking the time, buying the tickets, CDs and tshirts too!  We had the chance to share our stages with some great musicians – big thanks to all that opened shows for us and those that we jammed with also –  too many to mention them all – we are fortunate to have such great friends in the Canadian music scene!  Big thanks to Traynor + Long and McQuade for the exceptional gear support and to Casey Drums for delivering Matt’s new kit!  Thanks to all of the club & theatre staff, music societies, radio DJs, Arts Centre promoters, agents and support & technical staff that are so important in making these shows happen – we quite literally couldn’t do it without you all!

Unfortunately, this tour didn’t quite end as planned . . . the day after our last show in Regina (a really fun one!) we were traveling homeward bound when, about 3 hours west of Winnipeg, we hit a heavy spell of freezing rain.  To make a long story short, we had an accident where nobody involved was injured but our van and trailer were rendered unrepairable.  We managed to salvage 90% of our gear and thanks (YES, THANKS) to Air Canada and especially Jim at AC Cargo, we got home with our gear safely!  Thanks also to Jamie at National car rentals YWG, EC at Virden Towing, the RCMP, Oak Lake Fire Rescue and paramedics, Terry Ericson, Johnny Russell, Brandon-Winnipeg airport shuttle AND the retired-parole-officer-now-cabbie who drove us from Oak Lake, MB to Brandon, MB with a broken drivers side window in -15C temps . . . she was a real trooper!  Thanks to Big Dave McLean and John Scoles we were able to shake it all off at the Sunday night jam at the Times Change(d) High and Lonesome Club on the day after.

We are ready to jump right back onto the stage and keep going from where we left off this weekend!  On Friday we perform in Montreal (Ile Des Soeurs/Verdun) at Le Centre Communautaire Elgar and Saturday night we play in Quebec City (Vanier) at Centre D’Art La Chappelle!  We are also very excited to play next weekend Fri Nov 23 and Sat Nov 24 at The Black Sheep in Wakefield, QC – it will be a homecoming of sorts and always a great time!  Thanks for your continued support and we hope to see you at a show soon – please come and say hi!
