Back from the cruise plus Maple Blues Awards we won while we were gone!
Now that we’ve been home for a few days, we reflect on the last week and a half. We were away playing the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise and had a real blast! Thanks to Roger and all the staff for taking such good care of us and welcoming us aboard. It was a great experience that we hope to do again! It was such a great time playing our shows, as well as hanging and jamming with so many great musicians and having the support of so many MonkeyJunkies – new and old – thank you all for your support! While we were sailing the high seas of the Caribbean, the Maple Blues Awards happened in Toronto. We were nominated for 5 awards this year and won 3 of them! Thanks to the panel for choosing Steve as Harmonica Player of the Year and for choosing Matt as Drummer of the Year! Huge thanks to all of you MonkeyJunkies for choosing MonkeyJunk as Electric Act of the Year! We are truly proud and honoured to have won and can proudly say we have now collectively won 15 Maple Blues Awards in our short (almost) 5 year existence – wow . . . we are truly thankful for the recognition – thanks again!
Work is progressing well on the new record – we have the bedtracks done for 8 songs now and are hoping to stick to a late May Canadian release – it will be a bit later for the rest of the world . . . stay tuned for a spring/summer tour date update in the coming weeks . . .
