We are proud to announce that MonkeyJunk’s 5th recording Time To Roll arrives Friday Nov 4th!
It was recorded and mixed in just 3 weeks at Almonte, ON’s Signal Path Studio with long time collaborator and co-producer Ken Friesen. It has combined aspects of all 4 previous recordings and the band enlisted lyrical collaborators including Tom Wilson (Blackie & The Rodeo Kings, Lee Harvey Osmond, Junkhouse), Paul Reddick, Matthew Chaffey (The Split) and engineer & co-producer Ken Friesen (The Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo) to complete the songs. The result is a raw snapshot of where the band has been and arrived in 8 and a half years of touring and recording. Kelly Prescott lends backing vocals two tracks otherwise, it’s all Tony. Steve and Matt. Sample tunes will be posted soon and the band is already playing several of the tracks live – check it out in a town near you!

Long time, no post on here. We’ve been busy writing and recording new music for our new record. The good news is that it is coming along very well and we are excited about what we are coming up with. The not-as-good news is that we had intended to have it done and out in time for spring but that isn’t going to happen. We take great pride in making the best music that we can and that takes time. Sometimes, it comes easily. Sometimes it takes more time to get it just right. What we can assure you is that it will be the most diverse record we have ever made style-wise. We can tell you that it will feature guest appearances from a few friends that we think very highly of – notably, David Wilcox and Gordie Johnson from Big Sugar! It will be released in September 2015 once again on Stony Plain Records and distributed by Warner Music Canada. For now, we are excited to show you a video that we shot in December 2014 with the fabulous Don Marcotte at one of our favorite venues of all time, The Neat Cafe. Please enjoy and feel free to share it!!
We are headed to Florida this weekend and out west to Alberta/BC in April and east coast Canada in May – check out the tour page for the latest info on where we’ll be rockin!
see you out there . . .

Greetings from Sweden, MonkeyJunkies!
We are almost halfway through our tour here and are excited to tell you about a few things. After a very hectic touring schedule for the past 6 months, we are going to be slowing down a bit to start work on new music! We are in the process of planning and writing and we do have a recording session booked in Toronto for the first week of November that will coincide with a very special show that we have been asked to be a part of. Canada’s longest running blues band, Downchild is celebrating 45 years together as a band and they have asked us to join them on stage at the legendary Massey Hall on November 8th to guest on a few of their songs. This is a great honour for us and if you want to join us all, get your tickets HERE!
Looking forward, we are planning for the new record to be released in late March/early April 2015 – this will coincide with some US dates in March and a full Canadian tour in April/May. This is the plan BUT there is much work to do between now and then so stay tuned for updates.
Have a look at the tour dates for upcoming shows as always and we’ll see you out there! Also, remember that the fastest way to stay informed is through social media – Facebook and Twitter are where we’re at! Don’t forget to follow THEO too!

Our 1st recording Tiger In Your Tank documented the starting point of our journey as MonkeyJunk. We started recording it only a few months after we formed the band – it was our first impression to the world and showed us that we had something pretty special on the go and that we should keep it going . . . we are pleased to announce that it has now been re-released on Stony Plain Records with distribution by Warner Music Canada It features the original recording as it was first released as well as 2 previously unreleased new songs – freshly written and recorded in May 2014 – check it out and get yours TODAY!

We hope this finds you well; we have a few things to update you on. Attending the Juno Awards was a real blast. Despite not winning in the category we were nominated in, we truly had a great time taking in all of the festivities and value the experience greatly. It was great to make new friends and see old ones and Matt and Steve had huge fun playing in the Juno Cup! Congrats to our friends in Downchild for winning Blues Album of the Year.
We are nominated for Blues Artist of the Year at the Sirius/XM Indie Awards at Canadian Music Week this year. Voting is done by the general public so we could use your help – vote now! click HERE to register and vote!
The train keeps rolling for us – we’ve been busy playing shows and we had a chance to stop into the Galaxie Music offices to chat and shoot some video of us playing two songs live – check it out on the VIDEO PAGE. More shows are being confirmed as we type – our TOUR PAGE has been updated to include shows in May – the rest of the summer and fall will be added as we get confirmations and approval to announce them as many are part of festivals that have specific launch dates. We are very excited to be going to some new and exciting places – many provinces/territories in Canada as well as The USA, Central and Eastern Europe and Scandinavia!
As always, we hope to see you all out there in that land . . . stay tuned for more!!

We are in Winnipeg for The JUNO Awards – Matt and Steve are ready to play hockey once again in a great event called The Juno Cup! It takes place on Friday night at the MTS ICEPLEX in Winnipeg – it is a charity hockey game that pits musicians (many of whom are Juno nominees) against former NHLers in a friendly game to raise money for a great charity called MusiCounts – a great organization assiciated with CARAS and the Junos that works to keep music education alive and well in Canadian schools. The game features many other great musicians including team captain Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo, Devin Cuddy (Jim’s son who is also a very cool musician and first time Juno nominee), Colin MacDonald from The Trews as well as a few Ottawa-area musicians including our pal Amanda Rheaume, David Francey, Menno Versteeg from Hollerado and many more cool peeps on Team Rockers – and then there is the NHLers team that also features 2 members of the OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL winning Canadian women’s team – Natalie Spooner and Rebecca Johnston – all info can be found here – http://junoawards.ca/events/juno-week-events/juno-cup/
If you are in Winnipeg or have friends/family that are, please send them out to see the game and support a great cause!
After the hockey game, we will be playing a set at our favorite Winnipeg haunt, The Times Change(d) High and Lonesome Club at 11pm. As previously mentioned, we are nominated for Blues Album of the Year and our category is awarded on Saturday night March 29th at the Juno Awards Gala and Dinner. This is the event where 35 of the awards are given out and we are honoured to be considered with our fellow nominees (and friends) David Gogo, Harrison Kennedy, Downchild and James Buddy Rogers. You can watch a live stream of the gala this year for the first time ever – visit junoawards.ca to tune in on Saturday night starting at 7:00pm EST
As always, we thank you all for your ongoing love and support! We’ll let you know how it goes . . .
